SARAH DOUGANS, MSW, LICSW

I meet people where they are and walk with them to where they want to be. I am interested in how life experiences have shaped who individuals are and how this contributes to their experience in the world. I have experience providing psychotherapy to individuals who are looking for support in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships and careers while developing strategies to manage stress in their lives.

I have over ten years of experience working in the mental health sector. I have provided psychotherapy to hundreds of patients who have struggled with issues such as anxiety, career challenges and transitions, perfectionism, difficulties in romantic relationships, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders and challenges balancing their personal and professional lives. I have completed training in a number of evidence-based practices and am committed to continuously updating my therapeutic skills through professional development.

Most recently, I worked as a psychotherapist at the Sibley Group, a prominent group private practice in Northwest DC. At the Sibley Group, I specialized in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, life changes, career difficulties, women struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety and parents of young children and adolescents/young adults. My clients were largely high-achieving professionals and students.

In addition to my work at a private practice, I have worked at an outpatient clinic at a large psychiatric hospital, at a residential mental health treatment program, in outpatient therapy programs, and at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with executives and graduate students on career exploration, career identity and career advancement.
